Daclatasvir against HCV
Daclatasvir, brand name Daklinza, is an antiviral drug partnered with Sofosbuvir to treat patients with Hepatitis C virus (HCV). Although both drugs address HCV, Daclatasvir is often given to individuals with genotype 3 HCV without cirrhosis. It is also included in the list of essential medicines from the World Health Organization (WHO).
Daclatasvir cannot be given to people under 18 years old due to the intensity of the medication. The drug reacts to other medications like rifampin, St. John’s wort and seizure medications Carbamazepine and phenytoin.
Daclatasvir is taken for 12 weeks with prescription. Over dosage or under dosage is dangerous as further implications on the drug have not yet been established. The medicine is to be taken only with Sofosbuvir while other treatments should undergo testing.
The antiviral inhibitor acts as a block between each virus to stop them from reproducing. Viruses need each other to fulfill their task in the body; hence, isolating them is an effective method.
Daclatasvir has several side effects including:
· Slow Pulse
· Sickly feeling
· Difficulty breathing
· Chest pains
· Memory problems
Daclatasvir has other medical uses aside from the one mentioned above; hence, it is readily available in online stores with small and low dose quantities. However, most shops prefer to check prescriptions for safety purposes.
